【為何要重組】
谷歌此番重組，歸根結底還是為了鼓勵創(chuàng)新。用佩奇的話說，“我們一直認為隨著時間推移，各家公司都會變成更加循規(guī)蹈矩，安于守成，只做些添補調整。但在科技行業(yè)，革命顛覆性的創(chuàng)新不斷推送著下一個巨大增長領域，你需要讓自己有一些不安分，以繼續(xù)保持與行業(yè)掛鉤”。

長期以來，在互聯(lián)網(wǎng)業(yè)務占據(jù)主導地位的前提下，谷歌發(fā)展了各種看起來與核心業(yè)務關系不大、又存在高風險的部門，例如無人駕駛汽車、氣球網(wǎng)絡項目、可以監(jiān)測血糖的隱形眼鏡等項目。在新Alphabet的架構下，這些業(yè)務將紛紛脫離谷歌，成為Alphabet旗下的獨立子公司。

佩奇在博客中寫道：“從根本上說，我們相信這可以讓我們有更大的管理規(guī)模，我們因此可以獨立運行更多不緊密相關的事。”

【為何叫“字母表”】

新的控股公司為何取名Alphabet？佩奇解釋說，Alphabet是語言文字字母的集合，而語言是人類最為重要的創(chuàng)新，也是谷歌搜索的索引核心。同時，Alpha也有投資回報的意思，他表示會盡力給投資者帶來回報。
